How Disney Sparks That Creative Fire in All of Us

I feel that once you walk through the gates of a Disney Park, it flips a switch in our brains that puts in “creative mode.” Just a couple of minutes ago you’re questioning why a Mickey Pretzel is $6 – the next, you see the imagination and creativity that has you transported into another world. The feeling is the Disney effect; where the park just doesn’t entertain you, but activates something creative within you.

The Art of Details

Disney just isn’t good with the details, they’re great at it. Every inch of the park was created with intention – from sight lines that make each land feel completely separate, to the smell of popcorn drifting through mains street. Every light bulb, bench, brick, and walkway was done with creative intention that consumes you. Disney is a living, breathing example of something done right. You can feel the layers of imagery as you walk from one land to the next.

Making Your Own Magic

Just about every time my wife and I visit a Disney Park, I get a creative boost. Between the nostalgia, storytelling, and the fact that someone dreamed up everything I just experienced has me feeling inspired to create. A trip to Disney inspires me to bring a small camera to capture all the angles, details, and people within the park and aim to capture something different every time I visit. The creativity found here inspires me to build something of my own that others can enjoy.

With that said, you don’t really need a castle or a talking mouse to be creative. You just need the courage to make something new- even if it’s small. Walt Disney inspired us to try to be creative and that means something to me. The real magic comes from curiosity, persistence, and some faith.

Final Thoughts

Walt Disney and his team taught us that magic isn’t found – it’s made. So if a man with a mouse can impact the world, you can definitely finish the projects you’ve been slacking on. All it takes to help you unlock some of that creativity is $200 and a churro.
